Cocoa Loops Crispy Treats

  • Facebook
  • X

These Cocoa Loops Crispy Treats are a simple cereal dessert made with the new Cocoa Loops cereal. They have that classic chocolate cereal flavor combined with ooey gooey marshmallowy goodness.

You might notice they have more of a crunch than what you get from classic crispy treats and we actually love that. We’ll definitely make them again.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe…

  • If you love chocolate cereal like Cocoa Pebbles or Cocoa Puffs, you’ll love these new Cocoa Loops Crispy Treats. They taste like a chocolate marshmallow bar.
  • They’re perfect if you like your crispy treats gooey but still have that slight crispiness.
  • They have chocolatey flavor but they’re not overly fudgy. So even people who aren’t big chocolate fans will love them.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Cocoa Loops crispy treats
  • Cocoa Loops cereal – light chocolate cereal is a fun twist on normal rice cereal treats.
  • Marshmallows – always use fresh marshmallows. Mini marshmallows melt faster.
  • Butter – we like unsalted butter because it allows you to control how much salt goes in the recipe.
  • Vanilla – deepens and balances the flavor.
  • Salt – That little pinch really enhances the flavors.

See the recipe card for quantities.

How to Make Cocoa Loops Crispy Treats

Lightly spray a 9×13 inch pan. Set aside.

In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter. Add the marshmallows and stir gently until just melted and smooth.

Add the Cocoa Loops and fold until everything is evenly coated.

Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Use lightly buttered or damp hands to gently press the treats into an even layer. Don’t compact them or the bars will turn dense.

Let the treats cool at room temperature for 1 hour before slicing into squares.

Top Tip

Heat the mixture just long enough to melt the marshmallows otherwise you’ll overheat it which will cause them to be hard.

Don’t press the cocoa loops treats mixture into the pan too firmly or they can become too hard.

Store the treats in an airtight zipper bag or container to prevent them from getting stale.

Storage

If stored in an airtight container, these Cocoa Loops treats will stay fresh for up to 3 days.

Want them to last longer? Place them in a freezer safe storage bag or container. They’ll last a couple months stored like this. Before serving, allow them to come to room temperature first.

FAQ

Why did my treats come out hard instead of soft?

I’ve had this happen a few times. It’s usually because you allowed the marshmallow mixture to get too hot or you pressed the treats too firmly into the pan.

Are they super chocolatey?

Not at all. They have a nice chocolate flavor, but they’re not too chocolatey or fudgy.

What do Cocoa Loops taste like?

They taste like the best chocolate marshmallow treat you’ve ever had. They’re gooey with lots of stretchy marshmallow, but also crunchy.
