Ingredients
This is the simplest, most delicious lemon dessert you will make. It requires only three ingredients: lemon curd, heavy cream, and powdered sugar.
- Lemon Curd – While making lemon curd at home isn’t as complicated as it may sound, you can buy it to save some time.
- Heavy Cream
- Powdered Sugar – Powdered sugar is best in this recipe because it has a smoother texture than granulated sugar.
See the recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
First, pour the heavy cream and powdered sugar into a mixing bowl and whip on medium-high speed using a hand or stand mixer for 5 minutes or until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip.
Next, gently fold the whipped cream into the lemon curd.
After combining the whipped cream and lemon curd, it will have a light yellow hue, and the texture should be smooth.
Now, you can add the mousse to your favorite dessert dish. We layered ours with graham cracker dessert topping and lemon curd. Chill for 2-3 hours.

Storage
Mousse tastes the best when you eat it right after it chills and firms up. However, you can store it in the fridge for up to 3 days, but make sure to cover it tightly with plastic wrap or put it in a sealed container.
Top tip
Whip the heavy cream until it’s thick and holds its shape (stiff peaks), but don’t mix it too much or it will turn grainy.
FAQ
Sure! You can freeze lemon mousse to make lemon mousse pops. If you would like to freeze it to eat it as a traditional mousse dessert, it may be a bit icy or grainy. So it’s best to enjoy lemon mousse fresh for the optimal creamy texture and flavor.
If your lemon mousse is too watery, you can fix it by adding a bit more whipped cream or letting it chill longer to thicken. Another option is to mix in a small amount of gelatin or agar agar to help it firm up.
Lemon mousse is usually lighter and fluffier than lemon pudding, which is thicker and creamier.
