How to Make Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats

Prepare a 9×9-inch pan by spraying it with butter cooking spray. Set aside.

In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Use a rubber spatula to spread the butter up the sides of the pot to prevent sticking.

Add the mini marshmallows and stir over medium heat until completely melted. Then remove from the heat.

Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Wet your hands, shake off the excess water, and gently press the mixture into the pan. Let it cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

Use the rubber spatula to loosen the treats from the pan, then cut them into squares. Enjoy!

Top Tip

This is one of those make-or-break kinds of tips. As you melt the marshmallows, remove the pan from the heat when they’re almost completely melted. Then, stir until smooth. This is to ensure your treats are gooey instead of hard.

Because who wants hard treats that scratch the roof of your mouth, right?

Storage

Keep your Lucky Charms Rice Crispy Treats in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Or, you can store them in the freezer for up to 3 months (6 weeks for optimal freshness).

FAQs

Can I make Lucky Charms Rice Crispy Treats in Advance?

Sure! You can make them up to two days in advance and they’ll stay fresh as long as you store them in an airtight container at room temperature.

Can I freeze them?

Absolutely! Leftover treats, if wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in a freezer bag, can be stored for up to 3 months in the freezer. But honestly, you’ll probably want to eat them before the 6 week mark.

Why did my treats come out so hard?

If you’re Lucky Charms treats came out harder than Calculus, don’t worry! Been there, done that. You’ve likely overheated the marshmallow mixture. Next time, you’ll want to melt the marshmallows slowly over low heat and remove them right before they’re completely melted.
