Why You’ll Love This Recipe…

  • Can we be honest? Caramel apples aren’t all that. Okay, okay, they are, but only until you eat the last bite with caramel. Then you’re left with oxidized brown apple. Not with these bites. Instead, every single bite has caramel, apple, chocolate, and salty pretzel.
  • Each bite has apples, pretzels, and Rolos for that sweet, salty, and gooey bite. They’re literally so easy that anyone can make them.

Ingredients

Green apples, Rolo candies, and mini pretzels arranged on a white countertop.
  • Pretzels – Mini Twists or snaps.
  • Rolo Candies – Chocolate and caramel candy.
  • Apples – Granny Smith apples are more tart, which goes perfectly with the sweet candy.
  • Lemon Juice – Keeps the apples from turning brown.
  • Water

See the recipe card for quantities.

How to Make Caramel Apple Pretzel Bites

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cut the apples into small, bite-sized pieces. To help prevent browning, soak the apple pieces in a bowl of water and lemon juice for 5 minutes. Drain and pat dry before using.

Arrange the pretzels in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Place one unwrapped Rolo candy in the center of each pretzel.

Bake for 5 minutes, or until the Rolos begin to soften but are not completely melted.

Remove from the oven and immediately press one apple piece into the center of each softened Rolo. Enjoy!

Top Tip

Soak the apples in lemon water for 5 minutes to help prevent browning, then pat them dry before adding to the pretzel bites.

Storage

Caramel apple pretzel bites are best when eaten the same day.

FAQ

Can I make caramel apple pretzel bites ahead of time?

These bites are best when eaten the same day to avoid them getting soggy. If they sit for too long, the apples can release moisture.

How to keep the apples from turning brown?

The apples will turn brown if they sit for too long. This is called oxidation. To prevent this, soak the diced apples in the water-lemon solution for about 5 minutes.

What kind of apples should I use?

We like Granny Smith apples because they’re tart. That works incredibly well with the sweetness of the Rolos candy. You can also use a sweeter apple like Honeycrisp or Gala.
