This Frozen Blue Curacao Margarita is made with tequila, curacao (what makes it blue), and ice for a frozen mixed drink cocktail everyone will want more of. It’s sweet, pretty, smooth, and great for summer parties.

I love making them as soon as the weather is warm enough for shorts. That blue color is perfect for the 4th of July and Memorial Day when everything is patriotic. But they’re also great for Cinco de Mayo and Father’s Day, too.

Why You’ll Love This Frozen Blue Curacao Margarita
- We show you how to get that bright, eye-catching blue, instead of a pale look from adding too much ice
- This cocktail is balanced. While some blue margaritas are overly sweet like candy and others have a harsh alcohol flavor, this one still has that classic margarita flavor.
- Our blue margarita has the perfect texture. It’s not too icy like a snow cone nor does it melt too fast.

How to Make Frozen Blue Margarita
Run a lime wedge around the rims of your glasses and dip them in salt. Set aside.
Add everything to a blender. Blend until smooth and slushy.

Taste and adjust (more lime for tartness, more syrup for sweetness).

Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Top Tip
If you’re worried about whether you should salt the rim or not, I’ll make this easy for you…salt the rim. It balances the sweetness.

FAQ
No. Both are orange liqueurs but curacao is blue and a bit sweeter.
This usually happens if you didn’t add enough ice or blended it for too long. Blend until just smooth. The recipe as written gives you the right texture.
You want a crisp, clean flavor so you’ll want to use blanco tequila that doesn’t overtake the curacao and lime flavor.
