Eating Halloween Dirt Cups is like digging into a haunted garden. The base is a creamy chocolate pudding topped with sandwich cookie crumbs, also known as the dirt, and gummy worms.
The kiddos will love how playful they are, and you’ll love how simple they are to make.

You’ll want to make these dirt cups from late September to October, when the leaves change color and the days get shorter. They’re ideal for adding a little spooky fun without taking forever and a day to make. They’re great for classroom parties, trick-or-treat night, or even a night in with spooky kid movies.
Before you dig into these Halloween dirt cups, I’m sure you’ll want to check out some of our other ghastly treats, such as mummy brownies, Halloween Sugar Cookies, and Halloween dip cups.

Why You’ll Love Halloween Dirt Cups

- Each spoonful is a combination of chocolatey, creamy, and crunchy. You have pudding, chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs, and chewy gummy worms in every bite.
- All you have to do is whip up some instant pudding (or use pudding cups if you’re really short on time), crush some cookies, layer, and add gummy worms. Talk about easy!
- Kids will go absolutely bonkers for them. And between me and you, so will the adults. Plus, they’re actually pretty fun to layer, so the little ones will love to help.
- Between the “dirt” and the “worms” you’ll have the most festive treat in the room.

How to Make Halloween Dirt Cups
Using a food processor, add the chocolate sandwich cookies and blend until they form fine crumbs. Then add them to a small bowl and set it aside.
Whisk together the pudding mix and the milk in a medium-sized bowl. Then fold in the whipped topping until thoroughly mixed.

Fill small cups with the pudding mixture until they are approximately two-thirds full.
Top with a small amount of the crushed cookies. Repeat this process for all the cups.
Then decorate with the gummy worms. Enjoy!
Top Tip
While I love using my food professor to pulverize the Oreos for the dirt, you can also use food storage bag and a rolling pin to do it. It’ll save you some time.
Storage
These dirt cups will stay fresh for up to 3 days, which is great if you want to make them ahead. However, the gummy worms might become a bit soft, so I’d recommend adding them on the day you serve.
