- I love that these burritos use lean ground turkey, which is lighter than your usual beef burritos. They’re healthy without skimping on flavor. So here’s the thing…you won’t miss the beef. With all the spices and toppings, they’re satisfying, and you’ll feel good about what you’re feeding your family.
- Change them up to fit your tastes. Not into beans? Leave them out. Are you obsessed with spicy food? Add all the jalapeños you want. These burritos are like a blank canvas for your cravings. Which is important for satisfying your family in the long term.
- I love doubling the recipe and wrapping extras for the freezer because they’re perfect for meal prep (seriously, as you’re reading this, we likely have some in our freezer). Then, on those “I can’t even” days, I can grab them, reheat, and boom…instant meal. Your future self will thank you. 😉

How to Make Ground Turkey Burritos
Brown ground turkey in a pan over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until fully cooked. Stir in taco seasoning and cook for 2-3 minutes until well coated.
Microwave tortillas wrapped in damp paper towels for 20-30 seconds.
Add ¼ cup rice, ⅓ cup turkey, black beans, tomato, cheese, and optional lettuce to the tortilla.
Fold the bottom, then the sides, and roll tightly. Wrap in parchment paper if desired. Pair with sour cream and salsa. Enjoy!
Top Tip
Warm your tortillas before filling them! It makes them flexible and prevents cracking, so all that deliciousness stays inside.
Storage and Reheating
To store, wrap burritos tightly in foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 3 days. To freeze, wrap individually in foil and place in a freezer bag for up to 3 months.
If freezing, do not add sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or vegetables. Rice and beans are okay.
To reheat burritos in the oven, preheat it to 350 degrees. Wrap the burritos in foil to prevent them from drying out and bake for around 10 minutes if refrigerated, or 35-40 minutes if frozen or until heated through.
Hint: For perfectly reheated burritos, unwrap them for the last 5 minutes in the oven to crisp up the tortilla!
FAQ
Warm them up first! A quick zap in the microwave keeps them pliable and easy to roll.
After rolling, place the seam side down on a hot skillet for a minute to lightly toast and seal the burrito.
