  • Cream Cheese
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Butter
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Milk (optional to thin it out)

How to Make Strawberry Cream Cheese Frosting

Blend the strawberries in a food processor until fine crumbs. Put it in a bowl and set aside.

Cream the butter and cream cheese in a medium bowl until smooth. Add the vanilla, half the powdered sugar, and a pinch of salt to the bowl. Scrape the sides and add the remaining powdered sugar, blended strawberries, and the milk.

Continue mixing until completely combined and is the desired consistency.

Top Tip

Add milk, a little at a time, to thin out the frosting.

Storage

Store the frosting in an airtight food storage container in the fridge. It’ll stay fresh for up to 4 days. Simply place it on the counter a few minutes before you want to use it, allowing it to soften and spread easily.

Can I make this frosting ahead of time?

Sure! You can store it for up to 4 days in the fridge.

What can I use this frosting on?

Cakes, cupcakes, and cookies are the obvious choice. However, you can also use it to dip Oreos, fruit, and animal crackers.

Can I use frozen strawberries?

We only tested this recipe with freeze-dried strawberries for their super-intense berry flavor. There aren’t any fresh or frozen berries in this recipe.

Notes

  • You don’t want to add all the powdered sugar all at once or the mixture will be all over your kitchen. 
  • You can add more milk to achieve your desired consistency. 
  • This batch is enough to frost 24 cupcakes. 
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for up to a month.
