So, you’re looking for a new deep fryer to make tasty golden-brown goods? Well, say hello to the T-fal FR8000; a 3.5-liter capacity stainless steel deep fryer. It measures 18.3 x 13.7 x 14.8 inches and weighs about 16 pounds.

Yes, everyone loves fried foods, but personally, I hate frying food at home. The oil leaves a big mess, and the fried oil smell lingers in the air for days. That’s where the stainless steel T-fal FR8000 comes in. It is designed to take the hassle out of deep frying.

Below, check out my review of this feature rich deep fryer to see if this is the right one for you. You can also check out some of the other best home deep fryers that we came across.

Clean Deep Frying Machine

Growing up, fried foods were a rare treat. My parents (mostly Mom, no offense Dad) made sure that we had healthy meals. This usually meant that we had baked, boiled, or broiled foods.

But sometimes I’d come home from school to be met with the unmistakable aroma of fried food. The only problem was that it left a big mess and smell (particularly when we had fried fish) that mom had to clean up.

Convenient Easy to clean

Sarah and I don’t own a deep fryer anymore. But when we did, it was a pain in the…neck. We’d have all of this left over oil that just sat inside of the deep fryer. We didn’t want to throw the oil out right after a use because that seemed wasteful. So the fryer would end up sitting there on our counter until the next time we would fry. And sometimes it would be a week or two before we got the fried food craving again.

When we did clean it, we’d have to drain the fryer first. Which meant we almost always spilled oil on the counter. Then we had to take some paper towel and sop up the leftover oil and food bits from the bottom of the fryer. It was a hassle. So we decided to get rid of it.

If we’d bought the T-fal FR8000, we would still have a deep fryer. It is easy to clean. It has an automatic oil filtration system that removes large particles of food stuff. This prevents them from burning up while you fry.

After use, it stores the oil in a container that is on the bottom of the fryer. This also saves you money by preventing you from having to purchase new oil every time you fry. All of the removable parts are dishwasher safe (except for the heating unit). The drainage system means that you won’t have to tilt your fryer upside down to drain the oil.

Then there’s the issue of unwanted lingering smells when frying. This happens when you fry foods in an open pot. The lid and filter of the T-fal FR8000 takes care of that issue.

Healthier Fried Food

“Healthy fried foods” is certainly an oxymoron. It just doesn’t sound right, but there is some truth to it with regards to the T-fal FR8000. This deep fryer has what’s called an advanced oil temperature heating system. This system makes sure that your food is cooked at the optimal temperature to seal the exterior.

Have you ever had fried food that was kind of soggy and limp? I have, and it’s not good. You won’t have that problem with the T-fal FR8000. Instead, the heating system will help you make food with a crispy exterior.

While a crunchy outer texture is certainly the best way to eat fried food, another benefit is that this crispy exterior minimizes oil absorption, making your fried food technically “healthier”, but by how much is anyone’s guess. Although less oil absorption will make your food better for you, you should still eat fried foods in moderation.

Performance

One of the reasons why deep-frying food without a modern deep fryer sucks is that; most pans don’t have the capacity to handle large batches. So most people end up standing in front of the stove for a long time to fry food for an entire family.

The T-fal FR8000 has a 2.6 pound food capacity and 2.5 liter oil capacity. This makes it the perfect kitchen companion for families. It can cook several servings in a single batch.

For great results, you need a powerful heating element. When you add cold food into your fryer, the temperature will drop. The 1700-watt immersed heating element is professional grade. It will get the oil back up to the desired temperature quickly.

There is variable temperature control, which means that you can fry a wide variety of foods. The thermostat will give you a precise temperature rather than the uncertain results you get when using a pan to fry.

The patented automatic oil filtration system makes sure that your oil is clean. Clean oil produces great-tasting fried foods.

Size and Looks

The deep fryer Sarah and I once owned was very limited. It was very big and bulky. Which means that it was an eyesore when not in use. The stainless steel T-fal FR8000 is a good-looking, relatively small kitchen appliance. It won’t stand out in a bad way while sitting there on your countertop.

What Do The Customers Think…?

There are many customers who think very highly of the T-fal FR8000. They are really impressed with the oil filtration process. They love the fact that this machine also has an oil storage container. This makes the unit self-contained and easy to clean and use.

But no product is without faults. While I believe that this is a quality product, I did research some of the negative reviews for patterns. I came across a few issues that stood out. Several customers stated that the unit was D.O.A. Others complained about temperature discrepancies between the fryer and a separate thermometer. Most issues that I’ve encountered seemed to be one-off, rare instances. I still think that this is a quality machine.

Summary

I believe that the T-fal FR8000 EZ-clean is a quality deep fryer. Perhaps one of the best in its price range. It has the right combination of price, size, quality, and features that make me confident in recommending it. It takes the guesswork out of frying. It is large enough for a family. It is capable of producing consistent quality results.

The mess is eliminated by the oil filtration and drainage systems. It is made by a brand that I trust for deep fryers. When we are on the market for a new deep fryer, we will definitely consider this one.
