The NutriChef PKSJ30 is a stainless steel slow juicer and vegetable extractor. It measures 7.5 x 16 x 15 inches and weighs 9 pounds. It stands upright, making it the perfect appliance to fight on your counter under your cabinet.

The stainless steel housing with black and clear plastic will look good on your counter. I took a closer look at the NutriChef PKSJ30 and reported my results. Read below to find out more about this budget-priced juicer.

LOW-PRICED MASTICATING JUICER WITH SOLID PERFORMANCE?

There are several different types of juicers. The most popular juicers at the consumer level are masticating and centrifugal juicers. Centrifugal juicers work by grinding fruits and vegetables into a pulp then the spinning motion (centrifugal force) forces the juice out of the pulp.

Masticating juicers work a bit differently. Instead of grinding food into a pulp, they crush and squeeze juice out of fruits and vegetables. This process produces juice with added fiber content and as a result the juice tends to be thicker. This could be good for you, or it could be a turn-off.

The NutriChef PKSJ30 is a slow juicer. It operates with very low watts making it very energy efficient without sacrificing performance. This process has several benefits: There is very little energy consumption during operation, nutrient destruction from heat is minimal, there is more fiber in your juice, and the gentle juice extraction process lengthens juice shelf life.

Froth and foam build-up is minimal because the masticating process is so slow. There is however, a downside with this and all juicers really. Juicing in general creates a lot of food and nutrient loss in the form of pulp.

Sure, you can always add the pulp to a recipe, perhaps bread or an ice cream topping, but that is a compromise. It’s one of the reasons Sarah and I decided to go with a high-powered blender to assist us in consuming more fruits and vegetables instead of a juicer.

This juicer includes a cleaning brush and dishwasher-safe parts. But is it simple to clean? A lot of juicers are claimed to be easy to clean. The truth is, and I’ve researched many juicers, that juicers just aren’t the easiest kitchen appliance to clean. For proof, just read some customer reviews for the NutriChef PKSJ30. Several NutriChef PKSJ30 customers mentioned cleanup as a potential con. But it’s not just the PKSJ30, most juicers just aren’t easy to clean.

NutriChef PKSJ30 VS Other Masticating Juicers

The NutriChef PKSJ30 is a masticating slow juicer. But there are a lot of slow juicers on the market, which one will you choose? It is an entry-level juicer model. As such, you shouldn’t expect to have the same performance from this juicer as you would from the more expensive options out there. You should definitely consider the competition. Below, I review the competition to help you find the right option for you.

Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer – Black and Chrome Review

The Omega J8006 is a mid-priced, low-speed, masticating juicer. It is a very popular machine and is proven over time. It has many reviews. A lot of those reviews come from happy customers. The dimensions are 14-1/2 by 6-1/2 by 15-1/2 inches. Whereas the NutriChef PKSJ30 is more vertical than horizontal, the Omega J8006 is more horizontal.

Like the NutriChef, the Omega produces; very little noise, little or no foam or froth, and retains more nutrients than centrifugal juicers.

There are added benefits to owning the Omega J8006: You can make nut butters, baby food, and soy milk. You can also extrude pasta, grind coffee and spices, and even mince garlic. The Nutrichef doesn’t do any of that stuff. Because of the specialized gear system, the Omega J8006 produces the equivalent of 2 horsepower.

The more powerful, less specialized, multi-faceted Omega J8006 comes at a premium whereas the NutriChef PKSJ30 is more appealing to the budget-conscious. But with that you have a proven juicer with many happy users. Another huge benefit is that this juicer has a 15-year warranty.

Summary

The NutriChef PKSJ30 is a slow masticating juicer. It is priced perfectly if you have budget restrictions for a new juicer. As a shopper, I usually go for the high quality if higher-priced products. So although the price is very enticing, I like products with very good performance.

You can certainly check out the higher-end Omega juicer option listed above. Another option would be to search for a different option altogether. Just be sure to check out the feedback first.
