Size and Appearance
I was unable to find the proper dimensions for either machine. The dimensions seemed a bit off on the sites that I checked. The dimensions listed appear to be for the boxes that the machines are shipped in.
For example, the Ninja bl770 is listed as being 17 inches wide. That would take up a lot of space on your counter. There’s just no way that’s accurate. Blenders take up more vertical space than horizontal space.
When it comes to blender size, you should be more concerned about height than width. Most customers prefer a blender that can fit on the counter, under the cabinet. Judging by the package dimensions, either one will fit on your counter and under the cabinet.
Both machines are decent-looking. However, the bl820 is more aesthetically pleasing with its more modern-looking contours. The color scheme for both includes varying shades of gray, and black.
Control Panel
Aside from the design, the biggest difference between these two machines is the control panel. The Ninja bl820 has ten variable speeds and pulse while the Ninja bl770 has just three variable speeds and pulse.
Warranty
The Ninja bl820 comes with a 2-year warranty while the Ninja bl770 comes with a 1-year warranty.

Capacity
Both machines come with a variety of containers that share the same capacity. The capacity for the large pitcher is 72 ounces or 9 cups. The food processor work bowl is 8 cups, and the two individual Nutri Ninja cups have a 16 ounce capacity.
Food Processor Attachments
The Ninja bl820 comes with a work bowl that has more options than that of the bl770. The bl820’s food processor work bowl lid has a chute, the bl770 does not. The Ninja bl820 comes with a chopping blade, dough blade, reversible slicing/shredding disc, and grating disc. The bl770 only comes with a chopping blade and dough blade.
Power and Performance
These are powerful machines. I’ve experienced firsthand the difference between the cheapo $20 blenders and the real deal; Vitamix, Blendtec, and even the Ninja Brand. The Ninja Bl820 is reported to have 1500 watts and 3 peak horsepower.
On the other hand, the Ninja bl770 has 1500 watts of power and 2 peak horsepower. So, naturally, the newer model is more powerful, 50% in fact. Both these machines are powerful but the bl820 is more so.
Ease-of-use
Blenders are generally easy to use machines. That’s not a problem because to clean all you have to do is rinse after use, then fill back up with water, add a few drops of soap and turn it back on.
Customer Reviews
Ninja bl820
I combed through a lot of reviews for the 820. There are lots of customers that are happy with their purchase of the ninja ultima. Some customers report making green smoothies which of course are made with leafy greens – notoriously tough produce to blend.
There were also reports of how easy it is to use among many other compliments. Some customers have ironically reported problems with getting the greens to blend smooth. There were also some complaints of the machine breaking down after a short time. Despite some negative reports I still believe that this is a quality machine worth considering. But be sure to check out some customer reviews for yourself.
Ninja bl770
The ninja bl770 also has many positive customer reviews. There are several customers that point to its power as being better than their previous one. There are also some consumers that compare it favorably to the Vitamix and Blendtec blenders. That remains to be seen.
There are some customers who are less enthusiastic about the bl770. Some complaints that I thought were worth mentioning included: machine stopped working, smoothie texture not smooth, hard to clean around blades. Be sure to check out some of the customer reviews before you make a decision.
Summary
The Ninja bl820 vs bl770 comparison features two powerful blenders. But which one should you choose? The Ninja bl820 is the more powerful machine. If you’re accustomed to blending in a little cheapo blender, the difference in performance will be night and day with either machine.
Power is extremely important when it comes to blenders. Between the two, performance will be better with the bl820. It has more horsepower, more control panel settings, and more food processor accessories. Given these upgrades, I’d choose the bl820 over the bl770.
