Cuisinart CPC-600 vs EPC-1200PC: Which One Should You Choose…?

Appearance and Size

Both the cpc-600(amz) and epc-1200pc are identical machines. I think that they are good looking machines, clad in brushed stainless steel and black plastic. I think that stainless steel gives small kitchen appliances a more quality look.

In this case, the housing is actually brushed stainless steel which gives both machines a look of quality but more toned down. A benefit of the brushed stainless steel is that it is fingerprint proof. Both have control panels with an lcd screen that displays in red.

Both of these electric pressure cookers measure about 14.6 x 14.6 x 12 inches. The dimensions are about the same as the instant pot we bought. We have an Instant Pot Ip-Duo60 and it definitely takes up a decent amount of space on the counter top. We don’t mind because our instant pot is so valuable to us.

Power and Performance

Both pressure cookers in this comparison are 1000-watt machines. Your cooking results will be equal with either of these electric pressure cookers. The capacity for both machines is six quarts. Six quarts is perfect for a family of four or five.

Cuisinart claims that with their pressures cookers you can retain up to seventy percent of the nutrients. This is true, but it is not a unique value proposition. All pressure cookers tout this same claim. The food you eat will be more nutrient dense than food cooked using other preparation methods.

Both machines come with versatile settings. These settings include pressure cooking, sautéing, simmering, browning and warming. The controls are pretty straight forward.

Release Methods

If you are unfamiliar with pressure cooker release methods then you will need to read the instruction manual that accompanies your pressure cooker. Basically, electric pressure cookers will have two release methods; quick and natural. They each have their benefits and drawbacks.

The natural release method slowly releases pressure over about 10 to 20 minutes depending on how much you cook. It is best to use the natural release for foods like beans that would burst if the quick release was used.

But the natural release method isn’t best for all foods. Even after the timer sounds, the residual heat is still cooking the food. After cooking, some foods need to be chilled or removed from the heat source. The quick release is good for foods that can easily be overcooked like vegetables.

Non-stick Cooking Pot

I am not a big fan of non-stick pans. The non-stick pots usually end up getting scratched up. Once this happens you’ll end up with little flecks of Teflon in your food. The good news is that you will be able to avoid damaging the nonstick coating if you use plastic or wooden utensils.

Electric pressure cookers are extremely easy to operate. The two on this page are no different. You won’t need any experience to make relatively quick mouth-watering meals. We’ve made many great meals in our pressure cooker.

Cuisinart offers a respectable at 3-year warranty.
