The Black & Decker TO3290XSD seems to be a decent toaster but you might want to consider a different model that’s been around the block a few times, so to speak. The Black & Decker brand typically makes good small kitchen appliances, but you may want to consider a different brand. So, below take a look at a popular countertop oven from Cuisinart.
vs Cuisinart TOB-135 Deluxe Convection Toaster Oven
The Cuisinart TOB-135 Deluxe convection oven is proven. There is a lot of customer feedback available for this product. Like the Black and Decker above, it can also hold a 12-inch pizza, has a digital control panel, 2-hour timer, stainless steel construction, and automatic shutoff. The Cuisinart has nine pre-programmed functions compared to seven for the Black and Decker. These devices are very similar. But I think that the Cuisinart TOB-135 could be the better all-around choice.

Summary
Overall, I believe that the Black & Decker TO3290XSD is a top-notch machine. It seems that this is just the latest iteration from a company that has a history of making quality toaster ovens. If you aren’t completely sold on this model, there are lots of other quality options out there, including the Cuisinart TOB-135 listed above.

I came to the same conclusion about the TO3290XSD, then searched for it on the internet, and found you. 🙂 The Amazon ASIN shows it to be a relatively new model and, as you point out, other B&D ovens do well in Amazon reviews.
A similar B&D oven you might consider is the $59 B&D TO3250XSB. It has analog controls but is otherwise very similar to the TO3290XSD, and saves $40…The analog controls are probably a little less accurate and less flexible, but have the advantage of being more straightforward and thus much easier to use for some people. If I were buying for my mom, I would pick the analog version.
There’s also a $79 analog B&D TO3260XSBD, which was introduced at about the same time as the TO3290XSD, and appears to be the same oven as the TO3250XSB with a silver control panel replacing the black.
