Nespresso Vertuoline Espresso/Coffee Maker
The biggest difference between the Nespresso Vertuoline and the Nespresso Pixie is in the functions. While the Nespresso Pixie is just an espresso maker the Vertuoline makes espresso and coffee. Although, with espresso you can make latte’s and cappuccinos. There are some customers that claim to be able to make coffee in the Nespresso Pixie machine. But the process has its caveats, such as “if it’s too strong just add some water”. The Pixie clearly isn’t designed to make a regular “cup of joe”.
Both machines come with the Aeroccino plus milk frothier. It can make hot froth in 70 seconds and cold froth in just 60 seconds.
Measuring 11.9 inches (height) x 8.3 inches (width) x 11.9 inches (depth), the Nespresso Vertuoline is the larger machine of the two. The Nespresso Pixie has dimensions of 9.5 inches (height) x 4.5 inches (width) x 13 inches (depth). The Nespresso Pixie is very compact and will take up little space on your countertop.

There are two different capsule types that work with the Vertuoline; coffee and espresso. The coffee capsule produces an eight ounce cup of coffee while the espresso capsule produces a 1.35 ounce cup of espresso.
The Nespresso Vertuoline comes with
You can use regular Nespresso pods with the Pixel, however, the Nespresso Vertuoline uses its own specialized capsules. This machine is not compatible with the original Nespresso capsules.
For both, the capsules do go in very easily. The used capsule bin for the Pixie can hold up to 10 used capsules, while the Vertuoline can hold between 13 and 20 used capsules (depending on the capsule type). Nespresso as well as other single serve brewer capsules aren’t available everywhere. You may want to check on their availability before you purchase a single serve brewer.
Water Tank Capacity
The Nespresso Vertuoline water tank has a 40 ounce capacity. That means that it holds enough water for about 5 cups of coffee. The Nespresso Pixie has a 24 ounce capacity. Since it only makes espresso, it doesn’t need as large of a water tank capacity as the Vertuoline.
The brew speed for the Nespresso Pixie is about 25 seconds while the brew speed for the Vertuoline is about a minute. It takes about 25 seconds for the Nespresso Pixie to heat up and only 15 seconds for the Vertuoline.
Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker
The Nespresso brand makes attractive coffee drink machines. They both have a sleek black and silver exterior. The Pixie, as its name insinuates, is very compact. It has what is referred to as an “avant garde” design, which means new and original.
Both Nespresso machines come with a two-year warranty, starting from the date of purchase.
